FIRE & LIFE SAFETY DIRECTOR (FLSD)

ON-SITE EXAM PREP COURSE

Our comprehensive FLSD On-Site Exam Prep Course is designed to prepare candidates for the FDNY Fire and Life Safety Director On-Site Examination at their specific building.

The FDNY On-Site Exam consists of 11 sections divided into three major components: General Building Knowledge, Fire, and Non-Fire Emergencies. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a thorough understanding of their building, its fire and life safety systems, the building’s FDNY-accepted Comprehensive Fire Safety and Emergency Action Plan, and the responsibilities of the Fire and Life Safety staff.

Our preparation course covers building-specific knowledge, fire safety procedures, non-fire emergency procedures, FLS staff and occupant training, fire and non-fire scenarios, and the candidate’s responsibilities during an emergency. Candidates are also prepared for the practical demonstration portions of the exam, including operation and understanding of the Fire Command Center, fire alarm systems and elevator procedures applicable to the building.

The course is structured to help candidates confidently respond to questions and building-specific scenarios presented by the FDNY examiner. Particular attention is given to understanding critical building and fire protection systems, Building Information Cards, emergency procedures, and the building’s Comprehensive Fire Safety and Emergency Action Plan.

Candidates receive a comprehensive study guide and preparation package containing relevant building-specific and FLSD study materials to support preparation for the FDNY On-Site Exam.

Important: This is an On-Site Exam preparation course and should not be described as replacing the FDNY-required FLSD training. FDNY currently states that F-89 candidates must successfully complete the required 31-hour FLSD course from an FDNY-certified school before proceeding through the certification process
